The neighborhood of Avondale experiences the unjust effects of a calloused and broken world. They also lack access to everyday resources and opportunities. The Avondale community is rich in culture, but it bears the wounds of generations of struggle, poverty, oppression, and crime. This year there are two on-going mentoring programs for teenagers. The “Get your First Job” program enabled us to secure 22 students with their first job. The Sports program meets every Saturday from 10am to 1pm where an average of 35 students attend and several moms are involved to help. Our church also sponsors about fifty students per year in the local competitive sports leagues. And we have been able to help over 20 students obtain their driving licenses. It has been a great encouragement to see about 25 students from this community attending our church regularly! Since the Avondale ministry began we have been able to provide various kinds of support to families in need, specifically teenagers.

Immediate Needs:
Volunteers (contact John to get involved)
Supplies for the sports program
Tutoring for students
